Dear John,

The 2022 midterm election may now be behind us, but the expected GOP takeover of the House of Representatives (at the time of my writing votes were still being counted in a handful of key races) means threats to your earned benefits will quickly reach fever pitch when the new Congress convenes in January.

The presumed 2023 Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy and other Republican House members have already made it clear they plan to leverage the looming debt ceiling fight to force cuts to your Social Security and Medicare benefits.

The National Committee is now bracing for this and other extreme plans targeting your earned benefits to emerge from the House in 2023. That’s why I believe we need to draw a line in the sand right now … before harmful proposals are introduced in the 118th Congress (2023-2024) and before these proposals can garner the support they need to pass.

Will you help me do that right now? I believe we must take our message directly to the presumed 2023 leader of the House of Representatives without delay. Please SIGN OUR EMERGENCY PETITION TO HOUSE MINORITY LEADER KEVIN MCCARTHY in the next 24 hours!

Next year could be the year benefit cuts gain momentum in Congress. And so we need to ensure your voice, as a senior American is heard loud and clear by our leaders in Washington. No politician has the right to slash the benefits you’ve paid into and earned after a lifetime of work. Please sign our EMERGENCY PETITION today and help the National Committee prepare for the battles that lie ahead to protect your retirement and health security.

Sincerely,

Max Richtman
President & CEO
