John,
We're getting new reports that the U.S. Senate is getting ready to vote on marriage equality this week. And if you’ve been reading about the work to codify marriage equality, you know there’s one name that keeps popping up: U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin. She’s currently whipping the votes needed to pass this essential bill – and reaching across the aisle to do it.
Her current work exemplifies why having representation at all levels of government matters. As Tammy herself said to our LGBTQ elected officials, “There's an old adage that if you're not in the room the conversation is about you, if you're in the room the conversation is with you — and that makes all the difference."
While she's protecting our rights in the U.S. Senate, we’re going to send her a thank you card from our best supporters. Add your name to tell Tammy THANKS for her hard work to preserve equality!
LGBTQ people must be in the rooms where the conversations happen. We’ve seen the harm that can happen when we’re not included and just how quickly our hard-fought rights can be taken away by bigots.
We went all-in to ensure Tammy was elected to the Wisconsin state Assembly, and we’ve been all-in for her ever since. She’s got our backs – and we’ve got hers. Let her know you're rooting for her to pass this essential bill and say thanks for her hard work!
We'll pass along your notes. Thanks again!
