John - since the midterm results proved ~unfavorable~ for
Trump, we are now seeing the GOP shift towards turning on the one they’ve
loved the most as a scapegoat for all of their misdeeds.

Some key notes:

* A majority of those endorsed by Donald Trump LOST their elections, and
some by quite substantial margins. For example, John Fetterman in
Pennsylvania won by over 200,000 votes.
* Many seats that were poised to be “easily swept” by the GOP were won
by Democrats - and those that suggested the House would be in the
majority as red are now looking like a much smaller margin in their
favor.
* Ron DeSantis and Florida GOP members who have slightly distanced
themselves from Donald Trump had an overwhelming victory.

Trump has since been on the war-path against any and all that would stand
in his way of retaining his rule over the Republican party. He’s lashed
out at Ron DeSantis (who has been floated as a potential presidential
nominee in 2024,) as well as Glenn Youngkin of Virginia. This has prompted
many on the right, particularly of the talking-head variety, to now turn
their backs on Trump in efforts to distance themselves from the
“mean-tweet” nature they once swooned over.

Trump has also seemingly fallen out of the good graces of former VP Mike
Pence - you know, the one they chanted about hanging?

In an excerpt from his new book, Mike Pence says some pretty damning
things about his former running-mate:

So now, as the smoke steadily rises, all on the right are suddenly aware
of the proverbial flames. While the rest of us have been coughing and
wheezing - they NOW notice the fire.
Let this serve as a warning, however, that try as they might to distance
and separate themselves from the former (twice impeached) president, we
know where they held their loyalties for these last few years. We’ll be
hard-pressed to forget it.
