Dear Comrade,
Did you know the White Pond Reserve is under attack?! Over the summer, the City of Akron rushed an emergency sale of the White Pond Reserve, which City Council unanimously approved despite the lack of a proper environmental study. Current plans are to develop 60-65 acres of natural habitat to build approximately 200 town homes and 50 apartments: all rentals with unaffordable rent, ranging from $1,600 to $2,300 per month.
But it’s not too late. Today (11/14), City Council will be discussing the sale further, and you have a chance to speak out. Register here (by 4 p.m.) to speak over Zoom or show up in person at 7 p.m. at 166 S. High Street. You can also sign on to this open letter opposed to the sale and development of White Pond and email City Council (click the link on the left of the page).
