Forestry Friday - Maine's Forest Inventory: Past, Present, and Future

Maine Forest Service biometrician, Jereme Frank describes Maine's Forest Inventory System and the USDA Forest Service Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) Database. He will also present results from a recent analysis which examine Maines past forest inventory, recent trends, and future projections. This is a presentation of the Forest Policy and Management Division of the Maine Forest Service

Browntail Moth Mitigation Fund Rulemaking

The Maine Forest Service is accepting comments on the proposed rule to establish standards for the administration of the Browntail Moth Mitigation Fund. Comments will be accepted through December 2, 2022 at 4:30 PM. Written comments may be emailed to [email protected] or sent to:

Emerald Ash Borer and other Tree Health Concerns: Update for Cities and Towns

December 5, 2022: 10:30 AM, Microsoft Teams Webinar, Registration Required

The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry will provide an update for city and town tree and forest managers and public works staff on the known status of emerald ash borer in Maine and related state efforts and municipal impacts. In December's update we will also discuss browntail moth, winter moth, hemlock woolly adelgid, red pine scale, and beech leaf disease.

This has been approved for 1.0 CEU for Maine Licensed Pesticide Applicators; agenda has been submitted for Maine Professional Licensed Forester CEU's.

Forestry Friday - Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Integrated Pest Management in Maine

December 16, 2022: 9:00 AM, Teams Webinar, Registration Required

Join Colleen Teerling, a forest entomologist with the Maine Forest Service, to learn about managing hemlock woolly adelgid, an invasive pest that is spreading and killing trees in Maine. Learn about integrated pest management strategies and what they can and cannot do to protect hemlocks in your forest (as well as more urban settings).
