For the second year running I'm very pleased to introduce this special issue of your regular Growing Nottingham newsletter from the Nottingham team of the D2N2 Growth Hub, and to tell you a little more about why, for November we?ve rebranded it as Greening Nottingham.
Growing Nottingham from the Nottingham City Council team of the D2N2 Growth Hub brings you a round-up of all the latest business support on offer in our city.
This month, ahead of COP27, the United Nations Climate Change Conference, which takes place in Sharm el-Sheikh from 6th to 18th November, the team wanted to focus the newsletter on the wide range of support available to help you reduce carbon emissions, save on escalating energy costs as well as grow your business.
Nottingham City Council is committed?to tackling the challenges which climate change presents us with, and ensuring that our collective action brings about improvements to businesses, residents, our local economy, health and our communities.
This month's newsletter aims to empower and inspire you, as a valued local business, to join us in our commitment to?make Nottingham the first UK carbon neutral city by 2028; only together can we make sure that our actions add up to real change.
Councillor Rebecca Langton
Portfolio Holder for Skills, Growth and Economic Development,

Energy Costs - Advice for Businesses
Since late 2021 the volatility in the wholesale cost of gas has also led to sharp increases in the cost of electricity, which has been passed on to households and businesses up and down the country through their energy bills.
These energy costs are a key concern for all businesses, and just as support has been announced for households, non-domestic energy users will also see their bills capped over the winter months through the Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBR), details of which can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/energy-bill-relief-scheme-help-for-businesses-and-other-non-domestic-customers
Whilst this is welcome help for businesses it will still be necessary for most to explore other ways of reducing energy costs further, either by reducing their energy use or making efficiencies to limit energy wastage.?
You can visit our website where we have compiled a list of links with useful information regarding energy usage andprojects that help businesses to reduce their carbon emissions: www.d2n2growthhub.co.uk/initiatives/energy-costs-advice-for-businesses/
As well as the information on our own guide above, you can find even more helpful information with these energy saving guides as well:
