Hi John,
Orangutans are a critically endangered species, threatened by poachers and destruction of their forest habitat.
By buying or gifting an adoption today, you can support Born Free’s vital work protecting orangutans like Timtom – taken from her mother when she was just a baby.
|
HOW DOES BORN FREE HELP ORANGUTANS? |
Thanks to your generous support, Born Free helps fund the crucially important work of the Orangutan Foundation – who work to protect wild orangutans and their habitat in the forests of Borneo.
At Lamandau Wildlife Reserve – Timtom’s home – the Orangutan Foundation supports the release of rescued orangutans back into the wild. Protecting over 600 critically endangered Bornean orangutans, Lamandau’s tropical forest has seen a baby boom including several born to ex-captive orangutans.
So, when you adopt, you’ll support orangutan rescue, rehab AND conservation. |

Timtom was just a baby when stolen from her wild mother in Borneo, to be kept as a pet. Luckily, she was rescued by our friends at the Orangutan Foundation and is making good progress in their soft-release programme, as she prepares for life in the wild in Lamandau Wildlife Reserve. Your adoption of just £3 a month will support Timtom’s care as she learns to climb trees, forage for fruit and build a nest. Timtom also loves to play and rolls on the ground, throwing leaves over herself, then frolics in a muddy puddle – what a performer! |
