Hello John,
Tuesday was a good day for democracy and a good day for America. While we eagerly await the final results from the general election, the preliminary results have plenty for us to be proud of.
Thank you for every single sacrifice you made to bring us to this moment. We have more days to go before we know who will control the House, including the pivotal CA 3 race, along with the results of several local elections. Once again, we learned that our work to get to this moment mattered. Once again we proved that an organized group of people with focused goals and coordinated resources can move the scales of progress forward.
While we’re still waiting for all the local election results to come in, here’s what we already know:
- A key seat on the EDC Board of Supervisors will have a strong voice & steady leadership from Brooke Laine.
- On our local school boards, it looks like we've had some success with electing principled and effective leaders who will work tirelessly to strengthen our public schools, rather than play partisan games with our children’s education.
- The Georgetown Public Utility District will continue to have Michael Saunders and two new leaders who are committed to providing forward thinking, fiscally responsible and transparent leadership.
You all donated your hard-earned time and money this midterm election cycle, and I could not be more grateful. I’d like to take a moment to help explain exactly what you made possible:
- Because of you, the El Dorado County Democratic Party was able to send 10,751 mailers to approximately 12,660 voters in key targeted races.
-
Because of you, we were able to support 15 local candidates with endorsements and funds to support their filing fees.
- Because of you, we also were able to provide 10 candidate training sessions.
- Because of you thousands of homes were canvassed and phone call contacts happened.
I could go on and on, but in each success it is clear that the common theme is our collective investment. As we await the final results, I hope you feel proud and hopeful. I know that I do.
I also need you to know that our fight -- both this year and in the years ahead -- is far from over. While we’ve made incredible strides, I am counting on this team to continue to invest in our local party so that we will elect Democrats in years to come. We are strong, but lasting political power means we have to get right back to the work at hand.
Thanks for everything you’ve done and will continue to do. It means a lot to me and to everyone at our El Dorado County Democratic Party.
More soon!
Lauren
