I don't know about you, but I wasn’t a fan of 2019. I spent most of it in a courtroom fighting for my kids -- whether it was against DFS and a corrupt guardian ad litem who thinks it's okay to violate the rights of parents in hard places and unlawfully adopt out children, or my ex-husband.

I was lied to, lied about, retaliated against, false hotlined, hotly pursued, was alienated from my adopted children who are being manipulated by the system and kept from their perfectly fit parents, and endured as my civil rights were violated. I did not give up, did not back down, did not succumb to the abuses of the system or Voldemort (not that guy from Harry Potter, but that other guy), and took my case up to Missouri Court of Appeals. I am a reformer and at the "end of the year" and "end of a decade” ... I stand.

I learned a lot about parental rights, a lot about the system, a lot about people, and a lot about myself. I accomplished little as it pertains to my physical goals -- my career, personal aspirations, and the usual sorts of things that people aspire to achieve; but I did develop greater character, softened my heart and toughened my skin, became a better human, learned perseverance, endurance, and self discipline. If you measure the success of your 2019 by these standards, perhaps you faired better than you thought you did.

This year I will have more trials (figuratively and literally), and there's a high likelihood that you will too. Probably within a few weeks from now you'll start feeling discouraged because the year changed but your circumstances didn't get the memo.

Might I suggest (because I dare not give "advice") seeking after the hard "resolutions?" These are the things that are going to allow you to handle all of the circumstances this year will throw at you better, and by extension, the character traits that need to be sharpened to help you accomplish whatever physical goals you aspire to achieve also.

C
ongrats to you for conquering 2019 and the decade (+ 3 days) before today. It might not have been pretty. You might not have done it well. Like me, you may never ever want to look back, but we're here ... and that's pretty amazing.

Love, Megan
