Explore: Climate impacts on migrating wildlife

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), years 2013-2021 all rank in the top 10 warmest years on record.
Warming temperatures, drought and extreme weather are making it more difficult for wildlife, especially migratory species, to find food, water and shelter.
Migratory species, from monarch butterflies to humpback whales, have to alter their schedules to keep up with changing seasonal patterns. Scientists are observing the dramatic shifts that these species must make to adapt and survive.
Check out our interactive explainer to learn more about migratory species and how climate change is threatening their survival.

What can you do to help wildlife threatened by a warming world? Here are two key actions you can take:
Stand with your 3 million fellow EDF members and activists to help us speed the transition to clean energy and slash climate pollution now, and
Advocate for protecting, connecting and restoring critical wildlife habitat.
As an EDF supporter, your donations and advocacy make possible all our efforts to stabilize the climate and to safeguard the forests, coastal wetlands and other ecosystems that support wildlife and our own communities.
Thank you for everything you do,
Emily Stevenson,
Manager, Online Membership
