Make a difference in Georgia that will pay off big time over the next two years in the Senate.

Friends,

In the days since the election, I have been reflecting on what it means that Democrats held our majority in the Senate. I want to share a couple thoughts with you and hope you’ll take a moment to hear me out.

First off, we need to recognize what an incredible achievement this represents. The grassroots of the Democratic Party came together, working together to defy the odds in a way not seen since the days of JFK. That’s how long it’s been since Democrats did so well in a midterm as tough as this, and it’s worth celebrating.

Here’s what’s on my mind now. The truth is, a 50-50 Senate is just not enough. We need to expand our majority by helping Raphael Warnock win his crucial runoff next month. In a moment, I am going to ask you to help Rev. Warnock out, but first I want to give you a few reasons why it is so important.

1. The first reason is time. Under Senate rules, a 50-vote majority requires a power-sharing agreement with Republicans that will slow the Senate down dramatically. A 51-vote majority means clear Democratic control, with the ability to fast-track legislation and nominees. It means more progress and less of a chance that a setback, whether a sick Senator or a cancelled flight, grinds our work to a halt. We need Rev. Warnock in the Senate for that to happen.

2. We can still make progress, even under closely divided government. With a narrow Senate majority and the House on the knife’s edge of GOP control, I’ll acknowledge how tough things will be over the next two years. But I believe in Democrats’ ability to lead despite these challenges. Over the past few years, we have kept the government running and avoided disastrous shutdowns. And I’m proud to have passed important bills on infrastructure, COVID relief, climate change, inflation reduction, and more – largely through bipartisan efforts. We can and must try to solve our nation’s challenges, and a 51-vote majority gives us more leverage to lead on important legislation.

3. Another reason we need 51 votes is the courts. The Dobbs decision was a painful reminder of how critical it is that we appoint federal judges at every level who will put the rule of law over a partisan agenda. Without Rev. Warnock and a 51-vote majority, judicial nominations will take longer and be much harder to push through.

4. Candidly, the 2024 Senate map is going to be even tougher. Winning the Georgia runoff is a down payment on our chances at holding the majority for years to come.

5. Finally, there’s Raphael Warnock himself. We’ve been hearing pundits talk about how “candidate quality” mattered this cycle, and Rev. Warnock is case in point. In just his first two years, he has emerged as a champion for voting rights and democracy, while proving he can win tough elections in a conservative state. We need leaders of his caliber in the Senate now more than ever.

This is what’s at stake, friends. Rev. Warnock needs our help to win this runoff and expand our Democratic majority. If you haven’t donated yet this cycle, now is the time. It is truly that important. Can I count on you?

When I asked my supporters to chip in their hard-earned money during some tough economic times, it was because every vote mattered and every dollar made a difference. The contributions folks made to John Fetterman helped him hold rallies in parts of Pennsylvania that hadn’t seen a candidate, let alone a Democrat, in decades. They helped Catherine Cortez Masto turn out the Clark County, NV voters who made all the difference in deciding control of the Senate this weekend.

Now you have the power to make a difference in Georgia that will pay off big time over the next two years in the Senate. Our country is counting on Georgians to send Rev. Warnock back to the Senate for the tough fights head.

I’m planning to do everything I can to help. Please, give what you can today to help Rev. Warnock win and expand our Democratic majority.

Thanks,

Mark Warner
