The assassination of a senior IRGC commander could provoke war. John - News just broke that the United States has unilaterally assassinated IRGC Quds Force Commander Qassem Soleimani without Congressional approval—a profoundly reckless move that could have deadly consequences and result in a war with Iran.
The last thing the world needs is another disastrous American military adventure in the Middle East. Yet, the Trump administration has just empowered the most aggressive hardline elements inside Iran to consolidate influence internally and respond violently externally.
As Iranian Americans, we know that our fellow Americans have seen enough of wars in the Middle East that have no end. And Iran, a nation of 80 million people, does not want war and opposes the actions of their own government. This unwise decision, however, edges us even closer to war.
We must urge Congress to halt this latest escalation and bring this administration back into line. Will you join our call for peace?
Write Congress today and demand that they stand for peace. →
Already, leaders including Senator Chris Murphy have voiced grave concerns:

There is no doubt that Soleimani himself has blood on his hands. But that is not an authorization for a war or a reason to start one.
It’s time for leaders in Washington and Tehran to halt the escalation spiral, invite in intermediaries, and negotiate their differences before it is too late. There is no singular decision that necessitates a bloody and costly war that will have no victors.
Millions across the region are praying and hoping that this reckless assassination does not open pandora’s box. But praying isn’t enough—we must put pressure on our leaders to stop war with Iran. Click here to send a letter to Congress right now. →
