A historic drought is having a devastating impact in Afghanistan as even trees cannot survive without badly needed rains. Families are struggling to find enough to eat as farming becomes more difficult and food prices have risen 26% since the summer.

Children face some of the highest risks. Right now, one million children are at risk of death due to malnutrition as food becomes harder to access. If Afghanistan continues on this trajectory, or more resources don't arrive, the current crisis could kill far more Afghans than the past 20 years of war.

The IRC is doing everything we can to change that but we need your help.

In the year since the shift in power in Afghanistan, humanitarian needs across the country have skyrocketed. Hunger and poverty are increasing amidst an unprecedented economic freefall.

The IRC has been expanding our services to reach even more people in need in Afghanistan and crisis zones worldwide. We now have 6,000 staff members working across 12 provinces to deliver programs in education, health and nutrition, women's protection and empowerment, and more.
