Kroger and Albertsons recently announced a proposed merger that could lead to drastically less competition among grocery stores in Washington and across the country. As part of the proposed merger, Albertsons planned to pay private equity investors a dividend payment of $4 billion dollars before state authorities had the opportunity to fully review the move.
I went to court to prevent this from happening — and won. We asked for, and the court granted, a temporary restraining order stopping the $4 billion payment nationwide.
This is a huge victory!
