On Veterans Day, Americans come together in unity to recognize the tremendous service and sacrifice America's vets made to our country. The United States is blessed to have the world’s best servicemen and women defending our freedoms, and Veterans Day is a reminder of the respect and gratitude we owe them for their service.

Veterans are heroes for putting their lives on the line to protect our country and stand up for our freedoms and ideals across the globe. In the United States, we respect our heroes — both the living and the fallen.

This week, I was honored to spend time with veterans from the Sixth District over lunch in Oshkosh to discuss the need for greater accountability and efficiency within our government to support veterans. 

Our veterans deserve our utmost respect and gratitude, which is why it is unacceptable that some experience difficulties receiving crucial service-related benefits, such as medical treatment, unemployment assistance, and filing for home loans. Vets living in rural areas, for example, face unnecessary hurdles in dealing with the VA, which inspired me to join a bipartisan effort to urge the VA to prioritize care for rural veterans. 

As your Representative, I'm fighting to ensure that our veterans are treated with the greatest sense of decency and receive the access to care they’ve earned through serving our nation.
