John,

Although Americans across the country are still fixated on the results of this year’s critical midterm elections, SEEC members aren’t letting up for one second in the fight against climate change.

SEEC members Reps. Nanette Diaz Barragán, Earl Blumenauer, Suzanne Bonamici, Sean Casten, Jared Huffman, Barbara Lee, and Chellie Pingree are currently attending this year’s United Nations Conference of Parties (COP) climate summit in Egypt (a.k.a COP27) to discuss global efforts to reduce emissions and prepare for the consequences of climate change.

The COP is an annual climate conference attended by over 200 governments who signed on to the original UN climate agreement in 1992. It is an important venue for international coordination in the fight to slow rising temperatures and has led to critical climate agreements like the Paris Climate Accord at the 2015 COP.

The US had always held a prominent role at these conferences. However, four years of anti-climate policy from the Trump administration saw America take a step back as a leader in global climate initiatives . Trump not only pulled the US out of the Paris agreement but also undid numerous environmental rules and regulations that greatly stalled U.S. climate progress.

Thankfully, the Biden administration, with the help of SEEC members in Congress, has brought America back to the forefront of the international fight against climate change. Now, even with Congress’ fate still undetermined, our SEEC members are fighting for our planet on the world stage – because climate change doesn’t wait for races to be called .

John, our SEEC members are powered by grassroots donors like you. Can you make a donation to support our SEEC members as they continue the important work of helping to lead international efforts to combat climate change and save our planet? [[link removed]]

Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 117th Congress while we undo the damage of the Trump Administration.
