I want to share some thoughts on Tuesday night’s results.

Friend -

I want to share some thoughts on Tuesday night’s results, but before I get to that, I need to ask you to help us win the runoff in Georgia.

Rev. Warnock’s race could determine control of the Senate — once again. And the early money is critical for his campaign. His team needs to lock down ad time and hire staff right now — before the super PACs can completely flood the airwaves.

Will you split $5 between Rev. Warnock’s campaign and my re-election today? His campaign spent down and is starting from near zero.

We should all be proud of Tuesday night’s result. Republicans and the pundit class spent the final weeks hyping a “red wave” narrative that failed to materialize.

It looks likely to be the best midterm result for a president’s party since 2002.

A big reason for that is certainly Republicans' extremism and attacks on democracy. It is not popular to take away reproductive freedom, attack our democracy and elections, bully LGBTQ+ kids, or give tax cuts to giant corporations and billionaires.

But it’s also a testament to the accomplishments of President Biden and Democrats in Congress. We delivered the most significant gun safety legislation in three decades, the largest investment in climate action ever, legislation to lower prescription drug prices, and restarted the American microchip industry — just for starters.

Good policy often makes good politics. Voters said the economy was their top issue, and more voters than the pundits predicted chose the Democrats as the best party to manage the economy and deal with inflation.

We re-elected nearly all of our Democratic governors, flipped several state chambers and saw remarkable wins up and down the ballot and on pro-choice ballot measures.

The balance of power in the House is going to be close — a whole lot closer than almost anyone expected. Here in Connecticut, my close friend Jahana Hayes won one of the toughest races in the country in CT-05 (my old seat). I’m thrilled to welcome John Fetterman to the Senate. And I’m hopeful that Catherine Cortez Masto will prevail when the votes are all counted in Nevada.

But we still need to win the Georgia runoff. We could need it to save the majority and ensure that President Biden can still confirm his appointees and help avoid Republican antics over things like the debt ceiling crisis. Or in an even better case scenario, it could be the 51st seat — fortifying our majority for 2024 and getting us a step closer to ending the filibuster.

I know you probably are wanting a break from elections for a moment. Trust me, I get that. But Rev. Warnock deserves our support.

And the reason why your donation today really matters is that TV rates are much lower when the candidate buys the time. So we need to get Rev. Warnock money fast — right now — so he can buy all the good TV and digital ad placements before the GOP billionaire-funded Super PACs show up.

So please, if you can spare a bit more, split a $5 donation between Warnock and my upcoming re-election. Grassroots donations are the heart of both of our campaigns, so it really makes a difference.

Thank you again for all of your hard work this cycle. All of it mattered with so many close wins on Tuesday.

Every best wish,

Chris Murphy
