Hi John, I see you haven't opened an email from the National Immigrant Justice Center in a while, but I wanted to make sure you had a chance to take action to stop some of the most egregious abuses against people seeking asylum and our immigrant neighbors.

We have seen countless families torn apart, people who fled their homes for their lives being blocked from seeking asylum, and children and families detained in squalid conditions.

Congress has the power to cut funding for the agencies that perpetrate these abuses — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

Now is a critical time to take action as Congress keeps authorizing more and more funding (more than $25 billion!) to detain and deport immigrants.

In the United States, every person should be treated with dignity and respect. The U.S. government should invest our tax dollars in health care, education, housing, and other vital programs that benefit all of us, NOT in efforts that terrorize and destroy our communities.

It is time to establish humanity and justice at the border and in our communities.

Take action and send a message to your members of Congress asking them to cut funding for ICE and CBP here: www.immigrantjustice.org/DefundHate

Our taxpayer dollars should be used to strengthen families and communities, not harm them and tear them apart.

Thank you for taking action to stand up for your values and protect immigrants and people seeking asylum.
