[1]Women's March
John, on
Election Day, we PREVENTED a red wave from sweeping the nation.
Although Republicans may win the House of Representatives, their margins
are incredibly slim — and Democrats are still fighting to keep the Senate.
And there is so much more to celebrate.
Young voters and women turned out for Democrats.
Where abortion measures were on the ballot, abortion won: in Michigan, in
Vermont, in California, even Montana and Kentucky.
In Wisconsin and North Carolina, Democrats blocked GOP legislative
supermajorities. Now, their Democratic governors will retain the power to
veto anti-abortion legislation and protect reproductive rights for their
states.
Democrats Maura Healey and Tina Kotek will become the nation’s first
openly lesbian governors in Massachusetts and Oregon, respectively.
Democrat Wes Moore won his race for governor of Maryland — he’ll be
Maryland’s first Black governor and the nation’s third-ever Black
governor.
Democrat Maxwell Frost will represent Florida’s 10th congressional
district and become the first Gen Z’er in the House of Representatives.
History was made.
But the fight for our fundamental freedoms is not over. We have to build
on this momentum,
John,
because if the far-right won’t rest, we can’t either.
