JOHN,
Just a few states will determine whether Democrats control the Senate or not: Arizona and Nevada, where votes could take weeks to count fully, and Georgia, which is heading to a runoff election on December 6.
Runoff elections are rematches, so people have to go to the polls to cast their ballots again. Due to new voter restrictions in the state, there are under 4 weeks until Georgia’s runoff election.
Our best bet is funding local grassroots groups, which have been essential at getting out the vote in Georgia. Deeply rooted in their communities year-round, they’re trusted messengers. If we act quickly to move resources to help on-the-ground organizations, they will be able to scale up their efforts in time.
Please chip in whatever you can to the Georgia Alliance for Progress, which will rapidly distribute all funds to local organizations mobilizing voters for December 6th’s runoff election.
With almost all votes counted, Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock has a lead over his far-right opponent. However, Georgia voting laws force runoffs if no one candidate gets over 50% of the vote.
Recruited by Trump, Warnock’s opponent is a MAGA Republican who has spread dangerous conspiracy theories, including denying the reality of climate change and siding with those who tried to overthrow 2020’s election. Though the GOP candidate has come out hard against abortion rights, multiple women have accused him of pressuring them to have abortions, along with domestic violence and stalking.
We’ve got to defeat this far-right GOP candidate, and we’ve got to go all in on the runoff to guarantee Democratic control of the Senate.
During Georgia’s 2020 Senate runoffs, dozens of local grassroots organizations knocked on over 13 million doors, and had over 20 million conversations with voters of color and young voters of all races and backgrounds. This mighty effort led to historic victories.
Now we have a chance to fund the same strategic network of organizers that already proved they can collectively move Georgians to the polls and win. Please donate what you can to these grassroots groups so they can again save the Senate.
Thank you for your support in our ongoing movement for a multi-racial democracy where we can all thrive.
In solidarity,
Rashida
