John, I’ll tell you what I told Dana Bash and Abby Phillip on CNN:
As the first Gen Z member in Congress, I’ll bring the urgency that so many young people are demanding to take action on the issues that will impact my generation’s future.
Young people have seen our leaders fail to step up to the moment when it comes to climate change, economic inequality, and the gun violence epidemic.
My generation will face the harshest consequences if Congress fails to act. That’s why we need bold, transformational change. Incrementalism isn’t going to cut it anymore.
And now that young people have proven their voting power in front of the entire country, our leaders have no other choice but to start listening and start taking action.
But now, GOP leadership, the gun lobby, and so many other special interests see young voters as a direct threat to their influence on Congress, and they’re already laying the groundwork to silence us.
