Dear Friend,
Catholic Action’s past
support for Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone, Archbishop of San
Francisco, is set to skyrocket once again. He, along with Cardinal
Burke, have served as Episcopal Advisors of Catholic Action since
before its inception.
Immediately following the mid-term
election, His Excellency responded to the tragic outcome of voters in
five different states ratifying pro-abortion amendments to their state
constitutions. As most of us know, California’s Proposition 1 was the
worst of these efforts because it legalized
abortion up to the moment of
birth and effectively turned California into an
abortion haven.
We can now look back
on Roe v Wade as antiquated law.
After half a century, science and technology caught up with the
barbaric procedure of murdering the innocent child in the mother’s
womb. When a mother sees her child on the screen of an ultra sound
machine, the vast majority of mothers decide to not have an
abortion.
Please take a moment to view His
Excellency’s video statement which is only 2:41 long and literally one
for the ages:
These are a few highlight from the
Archbishop’s statement:
- He cites recent surveys which indicate that, even in California,
10% more women identify as pro-life while the percentage of women who
identify as pro-choice has fallen by 7 full percentage points.
- He unambiguously calls the struggle we are involved in a
“spiritual battle” that will continue due to measures like this.
- His Excellency said that the Archdiocese will continue to do the
essential work of accompanying mothers in distress through life-saving
crisis pregnancy centers and healing ministries; and
- He ends with a rousing testament to the Church’s charitable
efforts: “The response to a women in a crisis pregnancy is not
violence, death, and isolation, but support and tender-loving
care.”
Certainly we as Catholics must
continue to stand side-by-side with the Church in the ongoing battle
for life and double our prayers and efforts.
There is indeed much work to be done!
More than a half-century after the
completion of the Temple, the governor Nehemiah looked at the broken
down walls of Jerusalem, and the scripture says he “sat down and
wept,” fasting and praying before God (Neh. 1:4). But rebuilding the
walls was a dangerous and arduous task. As the rebuilding got
underway, a point came when the laborers had to do their work with one
hand while holding a weapon with the other hand. And they stood
side-by-side in the effort!
And should there be any doubt about our
commitment to this fight, we at Catholic Action want to re-state our
pledge:
Your Excellency, Archbishop
Cordileone, we and all our Catholic Action allies
are not only fully
behind you, we stand side-by-side with you
in this battle!
Your friend in Christ,

on Veterans Day, the Catholic Action staff and community extend our
prayers, honor and thanks today and every day to all military
personnel who are currently serving or have served in the
past.
