Raising my right hand to join the National Guard more than 40 years ago was one of the best decisions I ever made. Throughout my 24 years in the Guard, I learned invaluable lessons about hard work, camaraderie, and community.
We are stronger as a nation and state because of the selfless commitment all servicemen and servicewomen have to our country. It is only through their courageous sacrifices that we are able to enjoy the freedom upon which our nation was founded.
Be sure to thank the veterans in your life today, and in their honor, let’s all recommit ourselves to upholding our highest American ideals of liberty, equality, and justice for all.
