We can never say thank you enough to our veterans and their families for the sacrifices they have made in defense of our great nation. This Veterans Day and every day, we extend our profound gratitude and appreciation to each of these patriots.

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to attend the Veterans Outreach Center's Stars and Stripes Celebration and pay tribute to these brave men and women, and this morning I joined the American Legion to lay a wreath in honor of all those who have served. As we continue our celebrations throughout the weekend, let us remember: while we can never repay the debt we owe our veterans, we can—and we must—do more to ensure they have the safety and stability they deserve when they return home.

In the words of Daniel Webster:

“May their remembrance be as lasting as the land they honored.”

My top priority is supporting the needs of families, and that means cutting costs—which is why earlier this year, I proudly voted to make healthcare more affordable. This is also the time for older adults to enroll in Medicare and take advantage of the savings on prescription drug prices that will soon take effect—including lowering the cost of insulin to just $35 per month. Visit medicare.gov to sign up or change your coverage and know that I’ll continue fighting to ease the burden on families by lowering the cost of prescription medication.
