Hi there,

Our next governor is going to be climate champion Tina Kotek! You helped make this happen. You made sure Oregon will continue to meet the climate crisis with the urgency and action we need. Thank you!

In this election it was very clear that Oregon was either going to continue moving forward on climate action or take significant steps backward. The message from voters is very clear: we want climate action and we want climate leadership. In no race is that clearer than in the governor’s race.

Governor-elect Tina Kotek is genuinely and deeply committed to tackling the climate crisis while centering equity and justice. She has a record of climate leadership, often behind the scenes but always effective. In her run for governor, climate change was a top priority. She’s ready to hold big polluters accountable. Ready to advance clean energy solutions that make our cars pollute less and our homes and buildings healthier and more efficient. Ready to ensure historically marginalized communities, including low-income and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) communities, are centered in a just transition to a clean energy economy.

Governor-elect Tina Kotek’s climate leadership has only just begun. Join us in congratulating our next governor on social media: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. [[link removed]] [[link removed]] [[link removed]]

Because climate voters came out in force this election, Oregon has also re-elected pro-climate, and pro-environment majorities to the state Senate and House! In those majorities, we elected new climate champs like state Representatives-elect Farrah Chaichi, who for years was an OLCV volunteer leader, and Mark Gamba, the mayor of Milwaukie who made the city a beacon of local climate action. Across the state, pro-environment and pro-climate candidates won.

This election was also a big year for Oregon’s congressional races. For OLCV, that is especially true of one race in particular – Andrea Salinas running for CD 6 in the mid-Willamette Valley. While not all the results are in yet, we are cautiously optimistic. Andrea is a former OLCV board member, a dedicated environmental and climate champion, and just a fantastic human being. If she holds her current lead in this race (fingers crossed!), she will be a phenomenal addition to Oregon’s congressional delegation and to the U.S. House as a whole.

From statewide to local, congratulations to all the OLCV-endorsed candidates who won!

Thank you to all the climate voters, volunteers, donors, canvassers, phone bankers, LTE writers, and more!

Thank you for continuing to show up!
