Friends,
This Veterans Day, I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have served in our Armed Forces and who have put their country first, time and again.
Making the decision to put your life on the line for our country is one of the bravest and most noble things an American can do, and it’s important we honor all those who choose to serve.
But honoring our veterans and supporting their families goes beyond today’s holiday.
I believe the best way to honor our heroes is by making sure they have access to the resources – housing, health care, employment – they need to succeed. That’s why I have always worked to pass legislation that seeks to ensure that our veterans and their loved ones have the care and benefits they’re owed when they return home.
During this session of Congress alone, I’ve been a part of dozens of legislative efforts to deliver benefits to our veterans, including the passage of the historic PACT Act , which finally increased the VA’s ability to provide care and resources to veterans who have been exposed to burn pits and other toxic chemicals.
We’ve made great strides for our veterans, but there is still a lot more work we need to do to ensure all of them are taken care of. Over the next two years, I pledge to continue working day in and day out to ensure that our service members, veterans, and their families have all the resources they need while defending our country and when they return home.
To every veteran and service member in our district and across our nation, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
In gratitude,
Lori
