Today, to our veterans and their families, we want to say thank you. Thank you for your courage and your sacrifice.

While we reflect, remember, and show gratitude for those who have sacrificed for our country, we also have a duty to take action to ensure that our veterans get the services and support they need when transitioning into civilian life.

Many veterans return home carrying visible and invisible scars, are unable to find good-paying jobs, can’t access veterans’ health care, and face high rates of homelessness. I am proud to fight for better health care, better wages, and other common-sense solutions to serve those who have served us.

That’s why I have continually supported proposals that bolster funding for the VA, provide jobs and educational opportunities for veterans, and support Gold Star families. I worked across the aisle to get four pieces of veteran legislation signed into law and my office was named the only Purple Heart office of Distinction in the entire Northeast because of our work to help veterans in the district navigate the Department of Veterans Affairs and other federal agencies.

I hope you will join me today by taking a moment to remember and honor our veterans and servicemembers. While we may never know the extent of their sacrifice, we can ensure they know the extent of our gratitude.
