John, this marathon election year isn’t over yet.
Our team here in Georgia must dramatically increase the volume, scope, and speed of our nonpartisan Election Protection program for the upcoming runoff election.
That’s because it has never been more crucial to ensure that EVERY voter can cast their ballot. As I write, we’re fighting partisan operatives’ baseless attempts to sow doubt about the integrity of our elections — including a multitude of anti-voter lawsuits, and vote-suppressing disinformation online.
We all saw the intensity of the runoff elections in 2020 and early 2021 — and this time, it’ll be squeezed into a four-week sprint. Common Cause Georgia bears an absolutely essential responsibility: to make sure that no voter is silenced during this hugely important runoff election.
The world is watching to see if our democracy can pass this latest test, and we can’t let voters do this alone.
The earlier you make a donation, the greater your impact will be — can you chip in to sponsor a volunteer?
Here’s where all this leaves us and why I’m writing with such urgency: right now, we are in the midst of a massive Election Protection push — one that began mere days after we put nearly every resource we had into the general election.
But we have no choice but to once again ramp up our work ahead of the December 6 runoff. Only by digging deep and tapping every bit of energy we have left will we ensure that every eligible Georgia voter — whether Democratic, Republican, or Independent — is able to vote in this election.
In the run-up to the 2022 general election, we had hundreds of volunteers stationed at in-person polling places and contacting voters directly — sending rapid-response text messages about election issues, or reaching out directly to voters online with proven antidotes to vote-suppressing disinformation.
We made a difference for tens of thousands of Georgia voters. Now, to successfully repeat that effort, we must start by each of us doing our part — no matter what state we live in.
This time around we’ll need a huge infusion of resources to keep this intense Election Protection initiative operating at a massive scale until December 6.
I’m pleased to report we’ve already seen a rush of volunteers who served for the general election rejoin us for this high-stakes runoff — with plenty of new faces as well. So our top priority is ensuring we have the resources to train, equip, and place every one of those volunteers throughout the state — in urban centers, in suburbs, and in rural communities.
But with just one month before the runoff — and even less time before voters start turning out at the polls — we’re already running out of time to rebuild our resources and meet the challenge.
That’s why I’m rushing this email to you today, John. Sponsoring a volunteer early will enable us to make the greatest impact. I know you agree that this is not only an investment we MUST make, but it’s one you and I will gladly chip in for.
Will you sponsor a nonpartisan Election Protection volunteer today for just $50 — and empower us to meet this moment?
According to our field team, it costs $50 to onboard and equip one additional volunteer — and with your help, we intend to put everybody who steps up to work. So whether you can sponsor one volunteer, multiple volunteers, or just want to chip in with whatever amount you can to help — your contribution will make an immediate, direct impact on hundreds of voters.
I’m so grateful that already so many have stepped up — and I’m certain that once again, I can count on you to do your part to help us take on this massive initiative.
Please let me know that once again we can count on you.
Thanks for all you do for our democracy.
