This Veterans Day, we salute the over 19 million Americans who have proudly served our country.

Pennsylvania is home to over 800,000 veterans, and Philadelphia holds its Annual Veterans Parade on Market Street. It’s only fitting, seeing as Market Street was where Thomas Jefferson wrote much of the Declaration of Independence. It was the heart of our country’s revolution, housing the Continental Army that helped secure our nation's sovereignty.

Our country has changed and grown so much since that time. So has our nation’s reputation as a defender of freedom and democracy. We owe it to the millions of brave Americans who have selflessly risked their lives to keep the rest of us safe.

I will continue to honor these heroes in Congress by fighting for them as they fought for us. Access to quality health care, mental health services, job training, housing, and other federal services are crucial to the livelihoods of our veterans.

Before today’s end, thank any veterans in your community for their service. It’s the least we can do. Thank you,
