Friends,

Welcome to the new year. I'd like to share my sincerest wishes that your 2019 was filled with moments of joy and purpose, and that you begin the new year with hope for the possibility of what is yet to come.

This year I will have the opportunity again to connect with thousands of people to share my vision of leadership and build problem-solving capacity across many organizations and communities.

My team and I celebrated new and lasting partnerships which continue into the New Year, like those with the American Express Foundation, the MassMutual Foundation, Easterseals of DC MD VA, Disaster Services Corporation, Wounded Warrior Project and countless others who also believe in the power of collaboration and lifting up leaders at every level.

I look forward to continuing the important work of bringing together leaders in our communities and encouraging a deeper connection with philanthropic organizations in 2020.

Happy New Year,

Everything Carly Fiorina feared happened. Now nothing scares her.
by Jeanne Sahadi, CNN Business

Carly Fiorina, former CEO of Hewlett-Packard and 2016 Republican Presidential Candidate, says she is not afraid of anything anymore. She has faced discrimination, survived breast cancer and lived through the unimaginable loss of a child. Complimentary Perspectives on Leadership and Social Change
by Alex Counts

I am particularly pleased that Fiorina has decided to train much of her talent these days on helping nonprofits and their leaders unlock their full potential to combat vexing societal problems.

Capacity-building of social sector organizations is sadly out of favor in today’s philanthropic landscape. Her Unlocking Potential Foundation ...represent a welcome antidote to the highly transactional, project-oriented, fad-driven "quick fix philanthropy" that increasingly dominates today. Institution-building for long-term impact requires, first and foremost, investment in leaders.
