President Biden and President Xi Jinping of China will meet on Monday before the Group of 20 summit in Indonesia, an encounter that Mr. Biden and his advisers said would be focused on setting expectations with the Chinese as tensions continue to rise over matters such as Taiwan and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as the NYT reports

Russia-Ukraine Casualties
More than 100,000 Russian troops — and likely about as many Ukrainian troops — are estimated to be dead or wounded since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February, the Pentagon’s top general said as he raised the possibility of peace talks to end “a lot of human suffering,” as the Washington Post reports
