We Must Stay in the Fight We Must Have Confidence in Our Elections (Video Above) Dear Friend and Supporter, After working so intensely with you over the last several months, we were all disappointed as we watched the election results for our state and for our country. Many expected a big red wave that didn't really happen. As a result people are left scratching their heads. When we consider Democrats as a whole, including my opponent, Katherine Clark, refused to debate their challengers, failed to campaign, and in many instances, never even asked for votes, yet they cruised to re-election. Right now in our country we have record inflation, record gas prices, record crime, impending war, overdoses, open borders and a collapse of civil society with murder are on the rise everywhere. Economic conditions were set for Republican victories - people vote their wallets in midterms. Yet the results seem not to resonate with voters. Many will rationalize this situation simply because Republicans took back the House and the Biden agenda will be stopped. That in and of itself, is very significant, but we cannot rest on our laurels. We must stay strong, and we must stay in the fight, especially here in Massachusetts. I want you to know that I do not intend to give up or walk away from this fight to save our great country - one district, one state at a time. Winners never quit and quitters never win. I will stay in the fight. I hope you do too. I believe our number one priority right now is to strive to establish trust and confidence in our election system. Much of the massive overhauling or our election process passed stealthily under the guise of COVID-19, and this reality has left many people questioning the authenticity of the process. Just in the 5th District of Massachusetts alone, we identified 30,000 people who have notified the United States Postal Service that they have permanently moved, yet they remain on the voter rolls to this day. These people received ballot applications by mail sent to their homes from the Secretary of State. Complaints that highlight these discrepancies were filed with several city and town clerks from voters in the 5th District under a provision in Massachusetts law which allows voters to challenge to voter rolls. Sadly in most cases these complaints were casually dismissed by city/town officials. In other words no effort was made to determine if these voters had in fact moved like they said they did. If so they would be ineligible to vote. It seems as if no one cared enough to do their job. It is the responsibility of every local elected official to ensure that there is a mechanism in place to instill confidence, authenticate and maintain clean voter rolls, and be transparent and forthright with the public. In my opinion and based on this recent experience, none of this exists right now in Massachusetts. We must hold them accountable. Over the next weeks and months, I will spend time learning how other states and counties who are doing this well actually achieve their success. I plan on keeping you informed and up to date on my findings. I believe that fair elections are the foundation of our great Republic. We must have confidence in the process in order to keep voters engaged and encouraged.
