Dear John,
The fate of our nation lies in limbo as votes continue to be counted. This means the fate of the Boundary Waters does, too.
Unfortunately, U.S. Rep. Pete Stauber is stepping up his attack on the Boundary Waters now that he’s tightened his hold on Northeastern Minnesota. Just yesterday, he said he’s going to champion “critical mineral dominance” which we know includes green-lighting toxic and unpopular copper mining in the headwaters of America’s most visited Wilderness.
But we have a window to act now. The countdown for the fate of the Boundary Waters starts on Monday as this U.S. Congress enters the period before the next Congress is seated in January. The Senate and the House can act to pass the Boundary Waters Permanent Protection Bill during this important window of time!

We can’t let Congress fritter away this chance. The clock is ticking, and we need action on Boundary Waters protection before Congress adjourns for the year.
We must take advantage of the headwind we have right now to pass Rep McCollum’s Boundary Waters protections bill.
This moment, before Congress adjourns for the year, is our last best chance.

It's up to us to make sure our representatives know how important permanently protecting the Boundary Waters is to us— and how hard we all have to fight for it during this window of opportunity.
