| Friend, While several races are still being decided, Fox “News” is publishing story after story alluding to voter fraud. In an entire page devoted to “voter fraud concerns,” Fox has stories repeating claims that have already proven to be baseless.(1,2) And these claims are being picked up by MAGA candidates looking to overturn legitimate elections, including Kari Lake, whose race still has votes being counted.(3) Fox “News” is failing our democracy and its journalistic responsibility by spreading election disinformation, and it must be shut down. We are asking the largest advertisers for Fox “News” -- including GlaxoSmithKline, USAA, GMC, and Procter & Gamble -- to pull their advertising dollars from the network as long as it continues to air disinformation. Election disinformation isn’t the only false narrative being spread by Fox “News." In the hours after the attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband Paul, Fox “News” shared conspiracy theories regarding the causes behind the attack. And the attacker himself had posted numerous conspiracy theories online -- about transphobia, COVID-19, and the economy -- that he heard on Fox.(4) Fox “News” disinformation is directly related to COVID-19 anti-vaxxing, violent attacks against politicians, and the January 6 insurrection.(5,6,7) It’s time that advertisers take responsibility for supporting this dangerous disinformation.
