Canadians know that accurate, diverse, and relevant news contributes to a thriving and functioning democracy in Canada.

In 2015, Justin Trudeau and our Liberal team committed to reversing the previous Conservative government’s cuts to the CBC – and that’s exactly what we’ve done. And in this year’s Budget, we took further steps to keep investing in local journalism, breaking down barriers to support racialized and minority journalists, and funding to help publications adapt to the evolving technology and media consumption habits of Canadians.
