Exxon reported its highest-ever quarterly profit ($19.7 billion), and Chevron reported its second-highest quarterly profit ever (11.2 billion).

While President Biden previously criticized oil and gas companies’ massive profits earlier this year, his administration has been reluctant to endorse the single best action to hold Big Oil accountable – a windfall profits tax on excess profits.
