Good morning, JOHN,

In the early morning after the Election Day, close to 3AM, April, Charity, Neilson, and I huddled around my office phone to hear the news:  all precincts had finally reported their results from Early Voting, Election Day, Drop-off ballots, and some mail-ins, and we were ahead by 4,547 votes.

While this is very, very exciting, we are not done.

If you are the praying kind, now is the time for you to pray with us.  There are over 30,000 vote-by-mail votes left to count and then there are provisional ballots left.

While most supporters were enjoying the victory party celebrations, the team to the right was in the "War Room" analyzing the data that was finally completely updated at 3 AM when I and the family had already gone home, but they were still there.  THANK YOU TEAM!

Our team analyzed what was outstanding and what was counted to see how we thought this race would end up.  Based on that analysis, we saw that this is going to be very tight, we think it leans towards us winning, but that it will likely be won by only about 100 votes.

Now you see why we are asking for your prayers.  This race is so close.

Today's Update:

This morning at 10AM, at the Board of Elections across the five counties in District 6 – Garrett, Allegany, Washington, Frederick, and Upper Montgomery – began the count of the 30,000 mail-in votes received thus far.

They will count again tomorrow and then count on Saturday as needed to get us much closer to a final result.

This is the normal process for counting in Maryland.  Even so, we have lawyers and trained poll watchers at each location to help ensure that the process is clean.  This process will not be completed until November 18th, as they can wait for ballots that were mailed on Election Day to arrive, and won't start counting provisional ballots until November 16th.  Even then, the elections board says it could go longer in certain counties, and there may be a recount that would delay a final decision.

While we wait, we are so thankful for YOU:  Every person who prayed, who wrote to us, who held a sign, knocked on a door, made a call, or sent a check by mail.  Those who talked to their friends and family about this race, posted something on Facebook, worked in our office, or donated online.  Did you wear a green shirt, put a bumper sticker on, walk in a parade, pray for our family, or pray for our country?

Ultimately, God is in control, and has been with us through this whole campaign.

This race is about the people of Western and Central Maryland, it's about you, your family, and it's about the future direction of our country.  My main goal is to serve our country, and I am thankful to have locked arms along the way (metaphorically) with many of you.  If you pray today, pray that we would honor God with our words and our actions, that He would help our country, and that we would win at the end of this process.

Thanks for your encouragement and support.  I’ll be in touch soon.

For our country,
Neil
