Hi there,

The Multnomah County Health Department just released a report detailing how gas stoves release dangerous air pollutants that increase the risk of childhood asthma and other respiratory problems. To protect public health, improve air quality in homes, and mitigate climate change, the report recommends switching gas stoves and other gas-burning appliances like furnaces with electric alternatives at time of replacement. Transitioning households from gas appliances to electric alternatives also helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change.

Check out the County’s full report here and the official press release here. You can also read this recent report published by 76 organizations about the dangers of methane gas and the misinformation campaigns perpetuated by the gas industry to impede a just transition to clean energy.
