John, it’s a great day to be an Illinois Democrat.
We’re still waiting for results to determine control of Congress, but Democrats performed better than expected — and in Illinois, we have a lot to celebrate.
Voters turned out and re-elected my friend and partner in the Senate, Tammy Duckworth.
We now get to welcome new Democrats to Washington like Nikki Budzinski, Delia Ramirez, and Eric Sorensen, and welcome back our returning Democratic champions like Reps. Sean Casten, Bill Foster, and Lauren Underwood.
Our full slate of statewide Democrats, from Governor JB Pritzker to Attorney General Kwame Raoul, will return to Springfield and keep fighting to make Illinois a better place for our families.
Last but not least, Illinois became the first state to enshrine workers’ rights in our state constitution.
We still have some work ahead of us, but I wanted to take a moment to show my gratitude. Every dollar you’ve donated, phone call you’ve made to voters, hour volunteered, or vote cast has made a difference — and I am proud of the progress we’re making together. Thank you.
My best,
Dick Durbin
