Eight years ago, AFSP launched the Digital Memory Quilt program, which allowed suicide loss survivors everywhere to share photos and stories of their loved ones. We are now pleased to announce the launch of our new memory platform: Loving Memories.
For many suicide loss survivors, contributing a memory of a lost loved one can be a healthy part of grieving and processing a loss, along with [other strategies for healing]([link removed]), such as taking part in International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day, scheduling a Healing Conversations visit, [connecting with a local AFSP chapter]([link removed]), or joining a suicide loss support group. Healing is different for everyone. Our hope is that Loving Memories can play a role in remembering your lost loved one, not for how they died, but as a tribute to who they were, and why you cared for them so deeply.?
The new Loving Memories platform has been designed to improve upon the Digital Memory Quilt experience in a number of ways, including:
- private accounts for all memory creators
- the ability to add multiple photos and stories
- options to invite others to add to your memory
- reminders to visit your memory on dates that are important to you
As we launch Loving Memories, we also want to recognize the healing brought about by the Digital Memory Quilt and the more than 7,000 quilt squares our community has created in memory of those who have died by suicide. We hope you will visit Loving Memories to discover the stories of those who have been lost to suicide and, if you are a suicide loss survivor yourself, to add a memory of your own.
