Broxtowe Country Park skate park project
Someone on a skateboard
*We are working in partnership with Heaven is a Halfpipe project [ [link removed] ] and Skate Nottingham [ [link removed] ] to provide a skate park facility on Broxtowe Country Park.*
Following a supportive consultation process, the City Council have applied for grant funding of £100,000. Should the grant application be successful, we are looking to start building the skate park in around March 2023.

Programme for Street Improvement - Streets for People
Streets for people
*As part of the Streets for People programme, we have agreed a £700,000 agenda for improving some of the pavements and roads in Aspley.*
This is money which is reserved for highway work and cannot be spent on anything else. It sounds like a lot of money, but given the amount of work needed it is a drop in the ocean.
*Roads* on the list include Lindfield, Lindbridge, Eltham, part of Frinton.
*Paths* include Camborne Drive, Redmile and Commodore Gardens.
We are also setting money aside for tree work and bin replacements. You can find out more by visiting the streets for people website [ [link removed] ].

??️ Aspley back in time ??️
Aspley - before and after
People will always tell you that things used to be better in the past. We get people telling us about how you could leave milk bottles on the steps and they wouldn’t get pinched, and that gardens and hedges were always maintained because inspectors would come around. However archive photos of the area sometimes disprove the myths.
Here are some images of Broxtowe Park which show how Aspley has improved and changed over the last 50 years. The photo on the left shows the park in the 1970's compared to now. There is now less crime and vandalism. The area is in better shape than it was. This has been done by better schools and schooling, better policing, better cleansing regimes and better family support.
It is important to continue to support community activity, the basic services of policing, cleansing and for the councillors to be active and involved. It won’t put money in people’s pockets, but it might hold the area together.
