Happy November 9th! So much has happened since the 2020 election ended with Senators Warnock and Ossoff flipping the Senate. From a violent insurrection to the overturning of Roe, a lot happened as we, but you rose to the occasion!
For some time, we’ve talked about how we’d feel today, and what the work we needed to do before we got here. Lovely people of the Vote Save America community… We feel pretty darn good, and we hope you do, too.
Despite the punditry and the polls, you all showed up and defied history. As of right now, either party could win not just the Senate, but the House of Representatives too. We’ll count every vote and see what the voters decided.
There’s still a lot we know and a lot we don’t know about the results, and there’s going to be a lot of debate in the coming days and weeks about what lessons to draw from these results, but here’s one big one: when we do the work, we get results.
We have wins to celebrate in every region, but here are just a few we want to highlight as we near the end of our Midterm Madness:
- In the East, we re-elected Sen. Maggie Hassan in New Hampshire and flipped Pennsylvania for John Fetterman, which put us on track to hold (and maybe even expand) our Senate majority.
- In the Midwest, we held critical governors seats in Kansas, Michigan, and Wisconsin. We also flipped the state legislature in Michigan and passed a ballot measure codifying abortion rights in the state constitution.
- In the West, votes are still being tallied, but so far we’ve won a hard-fought race for governor in Oregon, some key House seats, and are looking strong in statewide races in Arizona and Nevada.
- In the South, we won toss-up House seats in North Carolina, Georgia, and Texas, but there is still more work to do: The Senate race in Georgia is going to a run-off, and we’re going to do everything we can to make sure Sen. Raphael Warnock is heading back to Washington next year. We know we’ve asked a lot already—and y’all have delivered—but if you’re able to, please contribute to Senator Warnock’s campaign. We’re not finished in the Peach State. Stay tuned for more ways to get involved.
We’ll have more to say as additional results come in, but for now: thank you. You made the difference last night and the entire country owes you its gratitude.
We’ve got more work to do, but for now rest up, you’ve earned it!
Sincerely,
A very tired Team VSA
