Taxpayer, 216 dogs were abused annually in painful
experiments at the Dept. of Veterans Affairs. Now, that number is 0!
See how we shut down the final VA dog lab and remain the only group to have shut down government dog labs in nearly two decades.
Then, take action
[[link removed]] and demand Congress end the National Institutes of Health’s taxpayer-funded
experiments on dogs!

Dear Taxpayer,
I want to make sure you saw the big news:
“VETERANS AFFAIRS IN RICHMOND, LAST WITH DOG TESTING, ‘EFFECTIVELY ENDED’ CANINE EXPERIMENTS.”
— WRIC ABC News
Richmond has fallen! The White Coat Waste Project (WCW) just shut down the final painful dog lab at
the Dept. of Veterans Affairs (VA).
[[link removed]]
This Richmond lab injected latex into puppies’ arteries, forced dogs to run on
treadmills, and surgically induced heart attacks. No pain relief. No anesthesia.
Richmond was the last VA lab still doing painful dog tests. With the end of
Richmond’s dog testing, we’ve ended ALL painful and wasteful dog experiments at the VA.
Taxpayer, when WCW launched this historic investigation
in November 2016 and our multi-year campaign in March 2017, over 216 dogs were
abused annually across VA labs—including 111 in the government’s most painful
experiments.
Now, no dogs are being abused in painful VA experiments.

Richmond follows our recent wins shutting down heart harvesting experiments on
dogs at the Saint Louis VA
[[link removed]] (April) and successfully stopping Dr. Fauci’s $1.8 million experiments
[[link removed]] on beagle puppies (July).
In 2022, WCW shut down three government dog labs. However, since 2007 — for the
better part of a generation — no other group has shut down any at all.
We’re effective. And we’re also proud to be the only group to have shuttered dog experiments across an entire federal agency.
Taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to bankroll beagle abuse by bureaucrats in white
lab coats—and now they aren’t at the VA.
Taxpayer, your support has made this the most effective
campaign to end dog testing in American history. Thank you.
Stop the Money. Stop the Madness!

P.S. With your help, we ended painful dog testing at the VA. Now, let's give the
same treatment to the National Institutes of Health (NIH)! Please send a pre-written email to your members of Congress
[[link removed]] demanding they do everything in their power to end NIH's taxpayer-funded
experiments on dogs, starting with cosponsoring the Protecting Dogs Subjected to
Experiments Act.

HISTORIC VICTORY: VA ENDS LAST ACTIVE DOG TESTS FOLLOWING WCW CAMPAIGN
In November 2016—almost exactly six years ago—White Coat Waste Project (WCW)
released its first major investigation called “ Spending to Death
[[link removed]] .”
In the groundbreaking report, we exposed how government agencies were wasting
millions of tax dollars to abuse puppies and dogs in painful and outdated
experiments.

ACTUAL PHOTO OBTAINED BY WCW VIA A RICHMOND LAB WHISTLEBLOWER WHO EXPOSED
BOTCHED SURGERIES AND DOGS FORCED TO RUN ON TREADMILLS IN HEART ATTACK TESTS.
We soon launched
[[link removed]] the first-ever national campaign to defund dog testing at the U.S. Department
of Veterans Affairs (VA).
We set our sights on the VA because it was experimenting on hundreds of beagles
and other dogs at agency labs across the country and was doing the most painful dog tests in the entire federal government.
Since then – with the support of Congress
[[link removed]] , veterans
[[link removed]] and whistleblowers
[[link removed]] – we’ve been steadily knocking out the VA’s deadly (even illegal
[[link removed]] !) dog labs.
WCW shut down the VA’s wasteful spending to inject latex into puppies’ arteries
[[link removed]] , drill holes
[[link removed]] into beagles’ skulls, collapse the lungs
[[link removed]] of “friendly” dogs, cut out living dogs’ hearts
[[link removed]] , inject Dobermans
[[link removed]] with methamphetamines, and force hounds to run on treadmills in heart attack tests
[[link removed]] .
Now, we’ve obtained documents
[[link removed]] confirming that following WCW’s six years of relentless campaigning, lobbying,
lawsuits, and investigations, the VA has ended painful dog experiments at its Richmond, Virginia lab
[[link removed]] , the agency’s final holdout.
[[link removed]]HISTORIC FIRSTS
WCW’s campaign to shut down VA dog testing has been one of historic firsts, including:
* First time ever that Congress enacted a law defunding dog tests and giving an
agency a hard deadline
[[link removed]] to phase out animal tests (dogs, cats, and primates, specifically)
* First time an agency formally committed
[[link removed]] to cutting experiments on dogs (as well as cats and primates)
* First state law enacted
[[link removed]] (in Virginia) defunding maximum pain experiments on dogs and cats
* First time a federal agency enacted a lab animal retirement policy
[[link removed]]
* First time the National Academy of Sciences
[[link removed]] criticized a federal agency’s wasteful dog tests as “unnecessary”
[[link removed]]
WCW WINS BIG FOR DOGS
In 2016, when our effort started, the VA abused nearly 220 dogs in experiments.
Now, zero dogs are being tormented in painful and deadly VA testing, and we’re
going to work to keep it that way and extend the progress to other federal
agencies ( hear that, NIH
[[link removed]] ?).
WCW is the only organization to shut down any government dog tests in at least
15 years, and we’ve wiped them out across an entire agency!

on dogs, starting with cosponsoring the Protecting Dogs Subjected to Experiments
Act.
