Happy day after the election! As we await final results in a few key states, we can celebrate the wins for Democrats and democracy. As of today, we’ve tracked 189 lawsuits filed in 2022 across 35 states. 106 of these lawsuits are currently active and ongoing.

Here are some updates from today.

Votes are still being counted across the country, but many candidates who denied the results of the 2020 election are coming up short in their races for key election administration positions in competitive states. At least two of these election deniers have yet to concede. Read more here.

On Election Day, Maricopa County, Arizona faced voting issues that didn’t prevent voters from being able to cast ballots, but did spur right-wing misinformation. Additionally, a late-night Republican lawsuit failed to extend polling hours in the county. Here’s what went down.

Along with Arizona, we are awaiting crucial results in Nevada. Today, Clark County Registrar Joe Gloria gave some figures on outstanding ballots, including that there are currently 5,300+ ballots that need to be cured. This number will grow as more mail-in ballots are processed.

Let’s close the loop on Pennsylvania’s undated mail-in ballot mess: Two ongoing lawsuits still argue that rejecting undated and wrongly dated mail-in ballots violates the Civil Rights Act. But, this litigation will not be expedited so it will not affect the outcome of Pennsylvania’s midterm elections.

Yesterday, the Nevada Supreme Court denied a request by the Republican National Committee to add more Republican members to Clark County, Nevada’s “signature verification board.” A lower court found that this “board” does not actually exist.

Also yesterday, following a request from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R), the Texas Supreme Court paused a lower court’s order that extended voting in Harris County (home to Houston) to 8 p.m. CST last night. This decision puts ballots cast during the extension period at risk of rejection.

Here’s what to expect in the coming days.
