Congratulations to Democrats up and down the ticket! We are grateful for your tireless work to represent Chicago and our state. Last night, we sent a powerful message that Illinois will stay blue - and protect a woman’s right to choose. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to each of you who volunteered, chipped in, made calls, knocked doors, or helped in any way.
But, John, we know there is clearly more work to do.
Across the country, Republicans ran election-deniers and MAGA-extremists. Now, Republicans appear poised to take control of the House of Representatives.
Here in Chicago, Trump supporters and Republican-backed candidates will be emboldened. And in the weeks and months ahead, special interests will line up against me to thwart the progress we are making for Chicagoans.
We won’t let up - not for a moment. Let’s keep up the fight.
