What a night, John!

There’s no doubt about it, last night was a big win for our democracy and
the progressive movement. We all have so much to celebrate today.

With your help we mobilized a wave of young voters, newly-registered
voters, and infrequent voters to the polls, completely outperforming all
expectations.

We built progressive power in Congress by electing Maxwell Frost (FL-10)
the first Gen Z member of Congress, Emilia Sykes (OH-13), Jasmine Crockett
(TX-30) Greg Casar (TX-35), Summer Lee (PA-12), and Delia Ramirez (IL-03).

We had monumental victories for our Purple to Blue campaign that helped
flip both chambers of the Michigan legislature blue, giving us a
Democratic trifecta for the first time in 40 years. That’s in addition to
voters across Michigan approving a constitutional amendment to codify
abortion rights. We also won key state house and state senate races in
North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Iowa, to name just a few.

Our Establish Justice Initiative secured huge wins across the board
including for numerous Attorney General candidates. We re-elected
long-time DFA ally Keith Ellison (MN) who faced an onslaught of dark money
and racist attack ads and put Andrea Campbell (MA), Rob Bonta (CA), and
Dana Nessel (MI) over the top.

We even propelled several Ranked Choice Voting campaigns to victory with
wins in cities like Portland, Oregon, and Fort Collins, Colorado, and the
state of Nevada! Seattle, Washington also looks promising with a race
that’s too close to call at the moment.

As we get a full picture of all the results nationwide, we’ll detail all
of our wins and losses later in the week.

For now, just know that collectively our movement definitively affirmed
that the right to an abortion must be protected and that we must defend
and expand democracy.

All of these winning campaigns were a significant focus for DFA in 2022,
and it took a LOT of work to make it happen online, on the ground, and on
the phones. For example, our amazing volunteers who helped with the Mail
Our Way to the Midterms campaign sent over 200,000 postcards to voters,
helping destroy any red wave and powering progressives up and down the
ballot to victory.

Another significant outcome is the resounding defeat of election-denying
MAGA Republicans. Just look at Lauren Boebert in Colorado who went from
tweeting that “the red wave has begun” last night to potentially losing
her seat altogether.

While we must take time to celebrate all of our hard work and the
dedicated volunteers and grassroots contributors that made all of this
possible, we need to prepare for the work ahead in 2023.

These midterms showed what our Purple to Blue campaign and Establish
Justice Initiative can accomplish.

That's why we will build out our progressive pipeline by increasing our
work on school board and Establish Justice races in key battleground
states.

And with races that will determine control of critical legislative seats
across Virginia, to major mayoral and municipal races in cities across the
nation including Chicago, Denver, Houston, and Philadelphia, our work for
2023 starts now. Wins that progressives gain in the months ahead will have
a major impact on the presidential election in 2024.

you chip in 24.42 (our average this month) to give us the resources we
need to continue the fight and elect progressives up and down the ballot
next year?

If there's one clear message from all of the victories yesterday, it's
that the future of the Democratic Party lies with young, progressive, and
diverse candidates and voters. When progressives work together, we win and
our movement grows stronger.

Thanks for being a part of DFA. These victories never would have been
possible without you.
