official:

The voters have made their voices heard and I am honored to say that I
will be continuing our work in Congress for a second term, representing
New York's 16th District. 

Two years ago, we celebrated an improbable victory and defeated a 31-year
incumbent. And this year posed entirely new challenges as we overcame
massive redistricting challenges, a delayed election, and a slate of
opponents fighting to unseat me and pull back on our progress.

So I want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you,
John, for believing in me and
this movement all the way. The future is always uncertain, but I am
continually grateful for the opportunity to truly represent NY-16 and
advocate for our needs.

If you would have told me — an 11 year old Black boy being raised by a
single mother in a housing project, a young Black man who experienced
police brutality firsthand, a hopeful educator to our community's youths —
that I would be elected to Congress for a second term, I would have
written off the thought as a short joke.

The story of a young Black man like me often doesn't end in a
Congressional seat and an opportunity to advocate for my community. But
since 2020, our movement has continued to show unconditional compassion,
love, and unwavering support for NY-16 and communities like ours. And
we've done this all solely by the power of the grassroots.

Young voters demonstrated the true power of our grassroots movement by
showing up in record numbers to the polls to fight for their futures. And
this is the kind of fire and passion we need leading up to the 2024
elections. With your support, we will continue to fight for reproductive
freedom, meaningful gun reform, a livable planet, and an end to predatory
student loans. Most importantly, we will continue to fight for our
democracy — now more than ever.

We know that Republican and conservative opposition will be doing
everything in their power before the next election to halt our progressive
vision. But we have a true opportunity to use our progressive power to
continue fighting for the issues we truly believe in, and continue holding
complacent Democrats and Republicans accountable for pushing issues that
would harm our community.

Today is a new opportunity to reaffirm ourselves to the fight to break
down the pillars of injustice, challenge the status quo, and build a truly
