I woke up this morning feeling optimistic. Our country showed GOP lawmakers that robbing women of their rights to safe and legal abortions is a losing strategy, and that threats to the bodily autonomy of American women will not be tolerated.

Yesterday, Americans voted in the interest of women and in defense of women’s rights. Voters in Michigan, Vermont, and California voted explicitly to protect abortion rights, and in Montana and Kentucky, voters rejected measures to restrict abortion access.

We saw some major wins!

We even saw a number of glass ceilings shatter across the nation! For example, women were elected to the position of Governor in Massachusetts, Arkansas, and New York for the first time in history! (This still leaves 17 states in the U.S. that have never elected a female Governor – but we’re glad to see that number drop!) Additionally, Vermont elected our endorsed candidate, Becca Balint, which makes her the first woman ever to be elected to federal office from the state of VT.

With your help, we were able to support incredible progressive and pro-choice women candidates running for offices up and down the ballot and nationwide. It was our honor to work with these women – and, thanks to you, many of them will be in the rooms where decisions are being made in 2023!

I am incredibly proud of what we accomplished this year, and encouraged by last night’s results, but our work is far from over.
