Dear John,
Between today and Gamaliel’s November 14 Environmental Justice Webinar—that’s just 18 days from now—nearly 600,000 people will die worldwide as a result of living or working in unhealthy environments. That does not include the thousands who will be diagnosed with diseases like asthma, cancer, coronary artery disease, and more that will change the quality of their lives.
In the U.S., Black Americans are three times more likely to die from pollutants in the environment than their white counterparts. The numbers make it clear: there are dire consequences for our families, friends, co-workers, and communities if we do not begin to address the environmental injustices in this country.
It is not too late to register [[link removed]] for the Environmental Justice Webinar scheduled for Monday, November 14. This 90-minute webinar begins at 7:00 p.m. CT (8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT).
The agenda will include theological and ethical framing, stories about the Environmental Justice work going on currently in the Network, the current political landscape and opportunities, as well as time for leaders and organizers to reflect together on what is at stake in their geographies.
