John, I won't take up too much of your time, I'd just like to say something.
If someone had told me at seven years old, when I was living above the church, that I would be here today, I wouldn't have believed them.
If someone had told me at seventeen years old, when I was the mail lady at our church and helping people apply for jobs and benefits, that I would be here today, I wouldn't have believed them.
If someone had told me two years ago that I was going to become the first Latina Congresswoman out of the Midwest, I wouldn't have believed them.
But today, it's because of your passion for your communities, and your dedication to showing up for it, that I am here, and I am going to Congress, and I am the first Latina coming out of the Midwest to do so.
From the very bottom of my heart, thank you.
Thank you to my team and to all the volunteers who knocked on thousands of doors and made thousands of calls.
Thank you to my husband and my family (and Lola 🐾) for their unconditional support and encouragement.
Last but not least, John, I can't thank you enough. Thank you so much for the incredible time, dedication, and energy you've given me and my campaign. Without you, this couldn't have been possible.
I am rooted, ready, and beyond excited to represent you in Congress.
